Stanley Dean Lindsey, seventy-five died on Saturday July 12th in Bluffton South Carolina on his horse farm with his wife.
He was born on September 29th, 1938 in Lebanon Tennessee.
Dr. Lindsey graduated with a BS degree from the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation, he went to work as the chief engineer for a steel fabricator and held that position for five years. During these five years he continued his education part time at Vanderbilt University and received his MS degree. At the end of the five years he formed his own structural engineering company, Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates, in Nashville, Tennessee. He continued to attend Vanderbilt University and received his Ph.D. in structural engineering.
Over the next twenty years his firm specialized in steel structures and was recognized with awards from AISC for creative and innovative designs. He also received several awards and was appointed to Committee on Specifications for AISC. He has served on the committee for over fifteen years and was Chair for four years. He finished out his career by accepting a position of Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; four children, Alan, Leigh Anne, Samantha, and Stan, and eight grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held July 16th at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home at 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, GA 31406.
